An early morning fire at a seven-storey residential building in Mumbai left two people hospitalized due to suffocation, according to civic officials. The incident took place in the Siddharth Nagar area, in a flat on the second floor of Atul Cooperative Housing Society Ltd.
The blaze was reported at 3:53 AM, prompting a swift response from firefighters, who managed to douse the flames by 4:15 AM. Two residents, 65-year-old Rameela Saha and 40-year-old Krunal Saha, were admitted to Kokilaben Hospital and are now in a stable condition, officials confirmed.
The fire was contained to the flat's electric wiring, air-conditioning unit, and various household materials. While the cause of the fire is still undetermined, it marks the second such incident in Mumbai on the same day following an earlier fire at the Crawford Market in south Mumbai.
