In a profoundly distressing series of events in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, the half-eaten body of a 10-month-old girl has been discovered after being taken by a wild animal. The incident occurred as the infant slept beside her mother in their village hut, marking the second child fatality involving wildlife in recent hours.
Officials report that the child's face sustained severe injuries, and her limbs were partially consumed before her body was found in a nearby field. The footprint evidence left behind was uncertain, pointing to the difficulty in identifying whether a jackal, wild dog, or another creature was responsible.
The local forest department has intensified efforts to track down the animal by deploying four teams to comb the surrounding sugarcane fields and utilizing drones. Cages may be installed under expert guidance, although the precise animal remains undetermined. A separate incident just 40 kilometers away involved a wolf attack on a five-year-old boy, resulting in his death. Drones and trap cages are being employed in this case as well.
