Winter's Fierce Arrival: 16 Million Brace for Major Snowstorm
A Canadian cold front is bringing heavy snowfall to the U.S., affecting over 16 million people from Michigan to New England. The storm, intensifying as it heads east, poses travel hazards, especially around major cities. Previous storms have already disrupted traffic significantly in parts of the Midwest.
More than 16 million Americans are under winter storm advisories as a frigid Canadian air front brings the first significant snowfall of the season across the U.S. Midwest and Northeast.
According to the National Weather Service, the snowstorm is expected to intensify as it moves eastward, with potential accumulations up to a foot from Michigan to New England. Residents in cities along Interstate 95, including Washington, Philadelphia, and Boston, should brace for rain and freezing rain instead.
The recent weather conditions have already disrupted Midwestern states, causing accidents like the 50-vehicle pile-up on Indiana's Interstate 70. Travelers should prepare for worsened road conditions late Monday into Tuesday night, forecasters warn.
