Mumbai, India—The Tata Group and The New York Academy of Sciences honored the 2025 Tata Transformation Prize Winners at a ceremony at the Taj Mahal Palace. This annual award, launched in 2023, celebrates exceptional scientific innovations addressing India's critical challenges in food security, sustainability, and healthcare.
The winners include Padubidri V. Shivaprasad for developing stress-tolerant rice varieties, Balasubramanian Gopal for a green chemistry platform producing essential chemicals, and Ambarish Ghosh for magnetic nanorobots targeting cancer. These projects were chosen from 212 entries, demonstrating high-reward, sustainable solutions for urgent societal needs.
N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, emphasized the group's dedication to scientific leadership in India, while Prof. Nicholas B. Dirks praised the prize's impact in elevating scientific work to international prominence. Winners received INR 2 crores each, signifying Tata's ongoing support for transformative research.
