A fire erupted in Krishna district early Sunday morning, gutting a mobile phone shop and spreading to five adjacent apparel shops, a police official confirmed.
The incident took place around 4.30 am near Nehru Chowk Centre in Gudivada, officials reported. Investigations point to a short circuit or mobile phone battery explosion as possible causes.
Firefighters responded quickly, extinguishing the blaze, which resulted in no injuries but caused property damage exceeding Rs 1.2 crore. A case is being registered by the local police.
