In a significant move to promote science beyond its traditional confines, the CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR–NIIST) is set to host a pivotal technology transfer event. The ceremony, 'CSIR–NIIST Tech Connect: From Lab to Market', will take place on February 18 at Anusandhan Bhawan, New Delhi, underscoring the institute's commitment to driving innovation beyond the laboratory.
The event will see the transfer of industry-ready technologies to leading partners, including a low glycaemic index rice designed to combat lifestyle diseases and malnutrition. Developed to enrich staple rice with protein and micronutrients without altering consumer habits, the technology is being licensed to major industry players.
Beyond nutritional innovation, CSIR–NIIST will showcase a variety of technologies, from coffee crema for enhanced sensory experiences to eco-friendly polyurethane for sustainable manufacturing.
