Panic erupted in Hardoi city on Tuesday due to a sudden gas leak in an underground PNG pipeline, causing a loud noise that prompted residents to flee their homes and businesses, according to officials.
The incident originated near a water tank on Bawan Road, where the gas pressure was so intense that the sound echoed widely, creating an atmosphere of fear in the area. Alert locals quickly notified authorities.
District Magistrate Anunay Jha, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena, and fire brigade teams rapidly arrived to manage the situation, attributed to a valve malfunction. No casualties or property damage have been reported, and safety protocols, including continuous water sprinkling, are being observed as precautionary measures.
