At least five people have tragically lost their lives in Oman over the past 24 hours following severe flooding. Authorities reported that floodwaters swept away vehicles in the Wilayats of Barka and Al-Maabilah.

In Barka, a vehicle carrying ten individuals was caught in the waters, leading to the deaths of three occupants. Seven others were successfully rescued, but sadly, those who didn't survive were later recovered.

A separate incident in Al-Maabilah resulted in the deaths of two citizens. These tragedies underscore Oman's ongoing battle with flooding, a recurring problem that previously claimed 20 lives in April 2024.
