At least five people have died in Oman over the past 24 hours, according to authorities, as vehicles were swept away by devastating floodwaters.

Oman's Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority reported rescuing seven individuals after a vehicle carrying ten was engulfed by a wadi in the Wilayat of Barka. Unfortunately, the remaining three passengers were found dead. In a separate incident, two citizens lost their lives after their vehicle was overcome by floodwaters in a wadi in the Wilayat of Al-Maawil.

The authorities noted that these fatalities occurred as torrential rains battered parts of the country. This adds to a list of tragic flooding incidents in Oman, including the April 2024 flash floods that resulted in at least 20 deaths and widespread inundation.
