Weather Alert: Two Successive Western Disturbances to Impact Northwest India

Northwest India is set to experience two back-to-back western disturbances affecting weather patterns over the week. The India Meteorological Department predicts hailstorms and isolated heavy rainfall, particularly in the Kashmir valley and parts of central and peninsular India. The disturbances originate from systems beyond Afghanistan and Iran.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that two successive western disturbances will impact northwest India this week, with peak activities expected on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. These disturbances may bring hailstorms and isolated heavy rainfall to the Kashmir valley on Friday and Saturday.

Central and peninsular India will not be spared as they too will experience rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning till April 7. Isolated hailstorms are forecast over areas such as central and eastern Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Marathawada, and the adjoining Gujarat region during this period.

Recent reports have noted heavy rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, with hailstorms striking east Rajasthan and western Madhya Pradesh. The IMD concludes that day temperatures are likely to remain below or near normal across most parts of India this week.
