Nashik Braces for Heatwave and Water Scarcity
Amid a looming heatwave predicted by the India Meteorological Department, the Nashik district administration is urging residents to conserve water. With current water levels in major reservoirs at 41.61%, the district has deployed 75 tankers to provide water to affected villages. Health facilities are equipped to handle heat-related illnesses.

The Nashik district administration has issued an urgent plea for citizens to conserve water, as a significant heatwave is forecasted by the India Meteorological Department. Current water levels hover at 41.61% across key irrigation projects in the district, with the Gangapur dam at 54.35% capacity.
District officials are distributing water to 235 villages and settlements using 75 tankers, ensuring daily delivery through 149 routes. Additionally, 23 wells have been acquired to aid in the efforts, benefiting approximately 1,35,566 residents. Particularly affected areas include Chandwad, Yeola, Igatpuri, Malegaon, Peth, and Sinnar.
District Collector Ayush Prasad stresses the importance of water conservation, also highlighting that primary health centers and government hospitals have been prepared with necessary resources to treat heatwave-related health issues.
