In a significant collaborative gesture, 124 villagers in Maharashtra's Palghar district have voluntarily handed over their land for the ambitious Vadhvan Port project. The district administration confirmed that the transaction covered 2.5 hectares in Varor village, which had been in dispute due to complex survey issues.

District Collector Indu Rani Jakhar praised the villagers for their crucial cooperation, calling the agreement a 'landmark of trust' between the community and the administration. The project aims to prioritize both development and community welfare, eschewing lengthy court proceedings for a direct resolution approach.

The Vadhvan Port, set near Mumbai, involves reclaiming 1,448 hectares and constructing extensive port facilities. On August 30, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone, marking a significant milestone in India's maritime infrastructure development, with the port expected to become a leading global container hub.
