A tragic incident occurred at Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh, claiming 13 lives after a state tourism department-operated boat capsized amid a storm. Among the deceased were a five-year-old boy and his uncle, as well as 11 other passengers. Rescue operations have successfully accounted for all missing individuals.
The vessel, approximately 20 years old, was carrying 41 passengers. Despite the challenging conditions, 28 individuals were rescued. However, authorities have confirmed a discrepancy with CCTV footage revealing 43 people heading towards the boat.
The state government has responded by initiating an investigation, dismissing three crew members, and implementing a ban on similar vessels in the region. The search for answers continues as families mourn their loved ones.
