The Interior Ministry reports that over 54,000 households have been impacted, notably in Nairobi, and essential infrastructure such as schools and hospitals are underwater.

Rising river levels and mudslides have caused mass evacuations, especially in the Rift Valley and downstream areas, with warnings of more rain to come in early May from the Meteorological Department.
