In Recife, the capital of Pernambuco, and its surrounding areas, intense rainfall resulted in two fatalities, with an additional two deaths recorded in Olinda. Meanwhile, in Paraiba, the cities of Conde, Joao Pessoa, and Campina Grande saw similar tragedy, with two people confirmed dead.
The federal government raised the operational level to maximum alert as it continues to monitor the improving weather conditions. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reassured the public of ongoing support and coordinated efforts with local authorities to provide essential aid.
