Fire Alerts Surge in Delhi: A Growing Concern

Delhi has witnessed a sharp 73% rise in fire-related emergencies in April compared to March, with 32 fatalities reported from January to April. Factors like rising temperatures and garbage fires are contributing to the increase. Despite the surge, the Delhi Fire Service has successfully executed numerous rescues.

The Delhi Fire Services registered 2,663 fire calls in April, a sharp increase from 1,538 in March and 1,096 in February. Further analysis suggests that rising temperatures and an uptick in garbage fires contribute to this surge.

Despite the challenges, prompt action by fire services has led to significant rescue efforts, saving 837 lives, with April alone accounting for 261 rescues. Animal and bird rescues were also notable, with 1,254 animals and 947 birds saved over the months.
