An adult tusker in Jharkhand's Koyna forest range sustained leg injuries after stepping on an improvised explosive device (IED), suspected to be planted by Maoists. This incident adds to a series of similar occurrences involving IEDs in recent years.

According to Aviroop Sinha, Saranda Divisional Forest Officer, the elephant's injury was reported on Monday morning, prompting the team to exercise caution to avoid additional hidden explosives. Medical aid has been administered to the injured tusker.

The elephant's front leg has been fractured, though there is no apparent profuse bleeding. This event underscores the ongoing threat of IEDs within the forest areas, affecting both wildlife and human activity.
