A tragic incident unfolded in Poland's Solska Forest when a firefighting plane crashed, resulting in the death of the pilot. The plane was involved in efforts to extinguish a large fire that consumed over 200 hectares of forest land, according to reports from the Interior Ministry.
The fire, which erupted near the village of Kozaki in Biłgoraj County, was not believed to be arson. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński explained that the blaze spread rapidly due to exceptionally dry conditions, making the forests highly flammable.
Despite the severity of the fire, which affected hard-to-reach areas, officials have not planned any evacuations as the nearest buildings are several kilometers away. Police Black Hawk helicopters have been deployed to assist in controlling the situation.
