A comprehensive report by Arunachal Pradesh's State Emergency Operation Centre has outlined the devastating impact of a series of natural disasters between January and May 13. Over 32,800 people were affected across the state, with seven fatalities and several injuries reported.
The report highlights 26 districts, including Anjaw and Upper Subansiri, experiencing incidents such as landslides, storms, and floods. Major infrastructural damage includes the destruction of roads, power lines, and bridges. The agricultural sector was not spared, with significant crop and horticulture area affected.
According to the State Disaster Management department, the period saw 49 forest fires, 31 storm-related incidents, 24 earthquakes, and more, resulting in widespread devastation. Immediate measures are necessary to mitigate future disaster risks and aid recovery in affected areas.
