A severe storm, coupled with relentless rain, resulted in at least 56 fatalities across several districts in Uttar Pradesh, reported officials on Thursday. The calamity uprooted trees and caused significant structural damage, making it a formidable natural disaster.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath swiftly acknowledged the devastation brought on by the unseasonal weather. He directed officials to ensure immediate relief operations to support affected families with the damages caused by thunderstorms and lightning on Wednesday.

Subsequent reports from different districts revealed the grim death toll: 17 in Prayagraj, 16 in Bhadohi, and notable casualties in Fatehpur, Badaun, Pratapgarh, among others. District administrations have been instructed to assess the losses while providing recommendations for financial assistance and other necessary aid.
