Lightning Claims Life of Shepherd in Uttarakhand Amid Severe Weather
A shepherd in Dharchula, Uttarakhand, Ram Singh, was killed by lightning during heavy rainfall. This tragic incident, marking the second fatal lightning strike in the area in three days, highlights the severe weather challenges faced by residents and authorities.

In the Dharchula region of Uttarakhand, a shepherd named Ram Singh, aged 48, tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning amid heavy downpours. The incident unfolded on Tuesday in Suva village, where Singh had taken his flock to graze, according to local police.
Sub-Divisional Officer K S Rawat reported that unexpected severe weather hit in the afternoon, leading to Singh's immediate death upon the lightning strike. Attempts to recover his body on the same day were hindered by adverse weather conditions, necessitating retrieval the following day.
This marks the second fatal lightning incident in the area within three days. On Sunday, Tej Singh, 35, from Khet village, also perished under similar circumstances while shepherding in the Rapkiya pasture of Dharchula.
