The European Union's power grid operators are preparing to handle the effects the total solar eclipse expected in Spain will have on electricity consumption, European Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said on Thursday.
"Given the fact that it should be taking place towards the afternoon, its impact is not expected to be huge," she said.
The eclipse is expected to occur on August 12.
