Seahawks RB Penny has broken finger

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny left Monday's practice with a broken finger, according to multiple reports.

Penny could miss up to four weeks with the injury, which would put his availability for Week 1, Sept. 9 against the Denver Broncos, in peril.

The Seahawks are not required to reveal the injury to Penny, but the rookie drafted 27th overall in April's NFL draft left practice early and did not return.

Penny is competing with Chris Carson for the starting running back job in preseason.

He had eight carries for 16 yards in his preseason debut against the Indianapolis Colts last week.
