The Texas Rangers activated outfielder Nomar Mazara from the 10-day disabled list on Thursday, the club announced.
Mazara missed more than a month with a sprained right thumb. He suffered the injury on July 14 during a game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Mazara was batting .272 with 15 homers and 58 RBIs prior to the injury.
Texas optioned outfielder Willie Calhoun to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Calhoun batted .275 with one homer and nine RBIs in 22 games with the Rangers.
Mazara is slated to bat cleanup for the Rangers in Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Angels.
Veteran third baseman Adrian Beltre (hamstring) is not listed in the starting lineup. He was injured on Monday and was scheduled to be re-evaluated on Thursday.
Texas also acquired minor league right-hander Kelvin Gonzalez from the Kansas City Royals on Thursday in exchange for international slot money.
