PSG Trophy basketball tournament to witness best players of India

Top national players, representing different teams, will be seen in action in the 54th All India basketball tournament for the PSG Trophy, beginning here on September nine.

Eight leading teams-Indian Army (Delhi), who finished runner-up in 2017, Indian Bank (Chennai), Indian Railways, Income Tax (Chennai), Vijaya Bank (Bengaluru), Customs (Kochi), ICF (Chennai) and IAF (Delhi)- will be vying for honors in the five-day tournament.

Defending champion Indian Overseas Bank is not participating in the tournament to be held at PSG Tech Indoor Complex with wooden flooring, PSG Institutions Managing Trustee, L Gopalakrishnan, the organizers, told reporters today.

The matches will be played on league basis till September 11 and semi-finals and finals will be held on September 12 and 13 respectively, he said.

The winners will get Rs one lakh, the runner-up Rs 50,000 while the best player will receive Rs 10,000.
