Chicago Cub's Kris leaves Tuesday night' game on account of wrist injury

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant eventually left Tuesday night's game after getting hit on the wrist by a pitch from Pittsburgh Pirates starter Chris Archer in the fourth inning at Wrigley Field.

The 2016 National League Most Valuable Player, diagnosed with a left wrist contusion, remained in the game until manager Joe Maddon made a double switch after the fifth inning.

Bryant, who missed the last week of July and the entire month of August because of a shoulder injury, is hitting .274 (10-for-73) with one homer and five RBIs since his return on Sept. 1.

For the season, Bryant is hitting .276 with 12 homers and 49 RBIs, a substantial drop-off from his 29-homer, 73-RBI season from a year ago. He won the 2016 NL MVP in his second major league season after hitting .292 with 39 homers and 102 RBIs.
