Buck Showalter might be entering his final homestand as the manager of the Baltimore Orioles.

He is not going to let the uncertainty derail him from the moment.

"We all have some private thoughts and some emotions about that," Showalter said Thursday in comments published by the Baltimore Sun. "But I don't think it serves the organization for me to be worried about that right now. We've got some things to do the last four games."

USA Today reported last week that Showalter will be dismissed at the end of the season. But the veteran manager insists that he has not heard about his future.

"No, (and) I shouldn't know," Showalter said. "I've got a contract through the end of October, so nobody needs to or had to do that. There's a lot of people in this world like that (who do not know their future). Who am I? Really? Is it that important?"

The Orioles enter the final weekend with a 46-112 record and traded away All-Star shortstop Manny Machado and closer Zach Britton at the non-waiver deadline.

While Showalter is expected to be shown the door, general manager Dan Duquette will reportedly receive a contract extension, USA Today reported.

Baltimore could finish with the second-most losses ever in a single season. The Cleveland Spiders' record of 134 losses in 1899 (20 wins) is safe.

Showalter, 62, was hired by Baltimore in 2010. He has 668 wins with the Orioles, which ranks second in franchise history behind only Earl Weaver.

He is 1,550-1,514 in parts of 20 seasons with the Orioles, Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and New York Yankees.

Asked about his uncertain future, Showalter said his situation was minor compared with many peoples' stressful lives.

"It won't be difficult," Showalter said. "Think about it. Difficult? What's difficult in this? Compared to what, the uncertainty of waiting for a test to come back about something, about your mother or your wife? Really, I'm serious about this.

"In the whole scheme of life, it shouldn't be (a big deal). Shame on me if it is. You know how good they've been to me. I'm not ever going to forget that, regardless of what happens."
