Derek Anderson signed with the Buffalo Bills, reuniting the 35-year-old quarterback with former staff from the Carolina Panthers.

Anderson, who is 20-27 in 12 seasons mostly as a backup quarterback, will join the depth chart as a tutor for first-round pick Josh Allen.

Safety Dean Marlowe was released by the Bills to make room for Anderson on the 53-man roster. Nathan Peterman has been the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart behind Allen since struggling in the opener against the Ravens, a 47-3 loss at Baltimore.

Anderson will see several familiar faces in Orchard Park, N.Y., including head coach Sean McDermott (defensive coordinator of the Panthers during Anderson's time in Carolina), wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and fullback Mike Tolbert.
