The Post reported on Tuesday that the offer didn't include any opt-outs and was less than the $400 million some have speculated Harper would receive after he and his agent Scott Boras held discussions throughout September.

Russia must meet criteria for full return to IBU: president

Russia will have to meet a set of criteria approved by the International Biathlon Union (IBU) if it is to become a full member again, new IBU President Olle Dahlin has said. Dahlin, speaking to Reuters after the IBU's executive board meeting at the weekend, said the Russian biathlon union (RBU), which is currently a provisional member following a major doping scandal in the country, was a key stakeholder in the sport.

NBA notebook: Lakers sign C Chandler

The Los Angeles Lakers made official what had been speculated for days, signing free agent centre Tyson Chandler on Tuesday. While the team did not announce details of Chandler's contract, ESPN reported the deal will pay Chandler $2,109,867 and the Lakers will take on a cap hit of $1,333,140. Chandler agreed to take $2.1 million off his $13.6 million salaries to secure a buyout from the Phoenix Suns last weekend.

UNMNT announces 28-man roster for Europe friendlies

Christian Pulisic will return to action for the U.S. men's national team this month when the USA takes on England and Italy a pair of friendlies in Europe to end the year. Interim manager Dave Sarachan on Tuesday announced the 28 players who will travel to London to prepare for the final Kickoff Series matches of 2018. The USA will first face 2018 World Cup semifinalist England at Wembley Stadium on Nov. 15. Five days later, they take on Italy at Luminus Arena in Genk, Belgium -- a rare neutral-site venue.

Giants offer team president job to Dodgers' GM: report

The San Francisco Giants have offered Farhan Zaidi -- the general manager of the rival Los Angeles Dodgers -- their president of baseball operations job, MLB.com' Jon Paul Morosi reported Tuesday. His decision is expected by Wednesday afternoon.

NFL notebook: Jones says no coaching changes in Dallas

Head coach Jason Garrett and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan are likely to finish the 2018 season with the Dallas Cowboys, owner Jerry Jones said late Monday night. "I very candidly didn't see this coming," Jones said following his team's 28-14 home loss to Tennessee on Monday Night Football after coming off a bye week. "I thought we would be sitting here with a positive result. This is a surprise to me and is a setback. Now when you're halfway through the season, losing a ballgame in the NFL, if that causes you to be deterred or to not think that there's a future ahead of you, then you've picked the wrong world to operate in."

Giants QB Manning to start Monday at San Francisco

New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur will not make a quarterback change this week, announcing Tuesday that Eli Manning will be the No. 1 quarterback Monday at San Francisco. But Shurmur came as close as he has all season to put Manning on notice, saying the Giants expect better play at the position. Olympics: Roof raised at Tokyo 2020 gymnastics venue

The second section of the timber roof at the Olympics Gymnastics Center in Tokyo was raised on Wednesday, marking the halfway point of the construction of the temporary venue. The roof of the 10,000-seat venue, which will host gymnastics at the Olympics and boccia in the Paralympics, will be raised in 200-tonne sections with all five scheduled to be in place by May next year.

NBA fines Irving $25K for throwing the ball in stands

The NBA has fined Kyrie Irving $25,000 for throwing the basketball into the stands Monday following Boston's 115-107 loss to Denver, the league announced Tuesday. The incident occurred after Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, sitting on a career-high 48 points with the game already decided, took a 3-pointer at the final buzzer in an attempt to reach the 50-point mark. Irked by Murray's move, Irving grabbed the ball and air mailed it into the stands at Denver's Pepsi Center.
