Snooker Championship: Walter Vaz of Bombay Gymkhana overcome Omkar Gore

Walter Vaz of Bombay Gymkhana showed strong fighting qualities as he recovered to overcome Omkar Gore 3-2 in a snooker first round qualifying match of the BSAM Maharashtra State Senior Snooker & Billiards Selection (leg-2) Championship.

Gore, from Chiplun, won a close first frame by a tight one point difference and went on to pocket the second to take a 2-0 lead.

But, Vaz won the next three frames on the trot to clinch a 51-52, 46-53, 58-30, 66-34 and 69-56 victory.

Results-- Snooker qualifying (round-1): Bapu Gaikwad (BPGC) beat Chetan Gangode (ECC) 3-0 (84-46, 84-27, 61-9); Siddhesh Mulay (Chiplun) beat Ameya Sankhala (PCL) 3-2 (44-52, 64-9, 15-57, 57-9, 59-30); Sohail Petiwala (Mazagon) beat Gaurang Thakkar (KSC) 3-2 (41-12, 45-49, 53-17, 17-49, 65(30)-28); Walter Vaz (Bombay Gymkhana) beat Omkar Gore (Chiplun) 3-2 (51-52, 46-53, 58-30, 66-34, 69-56); Rohan Sakalkar (Pune) beat Puneet Thakkar (Mazagon) 3-1 (15-58, 63-22, 67-35, 65-52); Dhawal Karia (KSC) beat Veer Singh Nagi (JVPG) 3-2 (60-29, 28-42, 20-48, 55-14, 40-39).
