WV Raman Champions India's Spinner-Heavy Squad for T20 World Cup

Former Indian opener WV Raman endorsed India's inclusion of four spinners in their T20 World Cup squad. He highlighted the suitability of West Indies pitches and the spinners’ impressive IPL performances. Raman also commented on potential head coach Gambhir and praised Dinesh Karthik’s cricket career upon his retirement.

Former Indian opener WV Raman has voiced his support for the selection of four spinners in India's T20 World Cup squad, attributing the choice to the nature of West Indies pitches and the spinners' stellar IPL performances. The squad includes Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal as they compete in the ICC marquee event in the Americas.

'Let's not forget that a lot of thought would have gone into it,' said Raman, who has played 11 Tests and 27 ODIs. 'There must have been enough rationale and thinking behind those additions. Whatever you get to see on the West Indies pitches these days is more conducive to spinners.'

Discussing potential head coach candidates, Raman endorsed Gautam Gambhir, citing his strategic acumen and leadership skills as assets for India's cricket team. Additionally, Raman praised Dinesh Karthik's successful career upon his retirement from all forms of cricket, lauding his dedication and entertainment value on the field.
