Chennaiyin FC has made a strategic move by signing Brazilian defender Elson Jose Dias Junior, commonly known as Elsinho, in a two-year deal set to last until 2026.

Elsinho marks the second addition to the Marina Machans' squad for the 2024-25 season, following the acquisition of midfielder Jitendra Singh earlier in the week.

Chennaiyin head coach Owen Coyle has high hopes for Elsinho, citing his versatility and potential to serve in both central midfield and center back roles. Coyle stressed that Elsinho offers a goal threat and tactical flexibility.

Elsinho, who was formerly with Jamshedpur FC, contributed to 25 matches last season. The Brazilian brings experience, having begun his career in 2014 and accumulating 214 appearances, with notable performances for Mexican club FC Juarez.

Elsinho expressed his enthusiasm by stating, 'The coach showed an interest in my work, and I am very happy to join a championship that has drawn attention.'
