Contentious ICC Rule Costs Bangladesh Crucial Match

A controversial LBW call on veteran batter Mahmudullah Riyad, later overturned, played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s narrow loss to South Africa, according to young batter Towhid Hridoy.

Bangladesh ended at 109/7 while chasing a target of 114, a difference that might have been bridged had an ICC rule not denied them four leg-bye runs when Mahmudullah was initially given out by on-field umpire Sam Nogajski.

The ICC rules state that no extra runs can be granted if an on-field LBW decision is overturned, a factor Hridoy believes was critical in the team's defeat.
