Bangladesh's skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has publicly apologized to the cricket-loving fans of his nation after their lackluster performance in the T20 World Cup, citing the batting unit's shortcomings as the primary reason for their disappointing campaign, which culminated in a defeat to a determined Afghanistan team.
The loss to Afghanistan, following India's triumph over Australia, dashed Bangladesh's hopes of reaching the semifinals. Afghanistan's defense of a modest total of 115 was enough to secure them a spot in the last-four, while Bangladesh failed to achieve their target, getting all out for 105 in a rain-affected Super Eight contest.
In the post-match press conference, a remorseful Shanto extended his apologies to the supporters, acknowledging the team's failure to deliver, especially in batting. He commended the bowlers' efforts throughout the tournament but stressed the need for the team to rectify their batting strategies in the future.
