The 2024 South Zone Junior Hockey Championship kicked off in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, witnessing dominant performances from various teams. On Day 1, Hockey Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh showcased exceptional skills in the women's matches.

Hockey Karnataka emerged victorious with a commanding 6-0 win over Telangana Hockey. The scorers included Disha M and Rakshita J, each netting twice, supported by Thanisha R and Meher Kaur Mehta.

In another women's fixture, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu trounced Kerala Hockey 11-0. Anusuya and Roobini M dazzled with hat-tricks, alongside key contributions from Captain Nithya Rubini and her teammates.

Hockey Andhra Pradesh also marked a significant win with a 23-0 triumph over Le Puducherry Hockey. Lalita Kothari stood out with seven goals, while Jhansi Bobbili secured five, demonstrating exceptional prowess.

In the men's category, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu outperformed Telangana Hockey 5-2, with key goals from Nandha Kumar, Gowtham K, Sundarajith M, P Kuberan, and Vishal S.

Hockey Karnataka continued the momentum, defeating Le Puducherry Hockey 10-0, thanks to stellar performances by Pilla Akash Nageshwara Rao, Prem Kumar, and Dhruva BS.

The day's final men's match witnessed a thrilling 4-4 draw between Hockey Kerala and Hockey Andhra Pradesh. Both teams displayed relentless efforts, ending the day on an exciting and competitive note.
