India is slated to tour Sri Lanka this July and August, engaging in three T20 internationals and three ODIs, as per an announcement by the BCCI on Thursday. The series will commence with the T20Is on July 26, 27, and 29 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, followed by the ODIs on August 1, 4, and 7 at Colombo's R Premadasa International Stadium.
The tour will see the debut of newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir for India and Sanath Jayasuriya for Sri Lanka. Gambhir recently replaced Rahul Dravid, who led India to their second T20 World Cup title. Jayasuriya takes over from Chris Silverwood.
India has yet to announce their squad, but it is confirmed that senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be rested. Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul are expected to lead the T20I and ODI teams respectively. This marks India's first white-ball bilateral tour to Sri Lanka since 2021, when a second-string side led by Shikhar Dhawan won both the T20I and ODI series.
