Vingegaard Triumphs in Thrilling Tour de France Stage 11

Jonas Vingegaard edged out Tadej Pogacar in a dramatic sprint to claim victory in Stage 11 of the Tour de France. Despite a crash earlier this season, Vingegaard's comeback is a testament to his resilience. The stage saw multiple lead changes and a thrilling finish in Le Lioran.

In a nail-biting finish at the Tour de France's Stage 11, Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) dashed past Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) to secure a thrilling win by half a wheel. The dramatic sprint finish at the ski resort of Le Lioran marked a significant milestone for Vingegaard, who has recently returned from a severe injury that included a punctured lung and broken ribs.

Vingegaard's victory came after Belgium's Evenepoel crossed the line 25 seconds behind, with Slovenia's Primoz Roglic finishing fourth after a late crash on a tight corner. The 211km stage was ridden at a blistering pace, with Pogacar’s UAE squad controlling the breakaway. Pogacar took crucial points over Col de Pertus, but Vingegaard's sprint sealed the day.

Despite Pogacar's strong attack on Puy Mary, it was Vingegaard who emerged victorious, showing remarkable resilience. The stage, described as the hardest by many riders, saw multiple withdrawals due to illness and crashes. Vingegaard's emotional win is a testament to his determination and family support throughout his recovery.
