Pogacar's Perfect Timing: A Dominant Victory in Stage 14 of Tour de France
Tadej Pogacar, the current Tour de France leader, executed a flawless attack to win Stage 14, a challenging 152 km ride through the Pyrenees. Guided by UAE Team Emirates teammate Adam Yates, Pogacar left behind rivals Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel. Pogacar now leads the general classification by a significant margin.
Tour de France race leader Tadej Pogacar timed his attack to perfection, riding solo to victory on Stage 14 on Saturday in a grueling 152 km ride from Pau to Saint-Lary-Soulan Pla d'Adet. The stage included 4,000 meters of climbing in the Pyrenees.
The yellow jersey holder attacked 4.5 km from the finish, following a lead-out by UAE Team Emirates teammate Adam Yates. Pogacar left his closest rivals, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel, behind. Vingegaard finished 39 seconds behind Pogacar, while Belgium's Evenepoel was 70 seconds behind, slipping to third overall in the general classification.
"It was instinct. We aimed for both the stage and the sprint," Pogacar said after his 13th career stage victory in the Tour. "I must say a big thank you to my team, they were amazing and this victory is for them." The stage featured a brutal climb to the Col du Tourmalet summit.
