Indian middle-order batter Rinku Singh once again delivered a fine finish for India during the fifth T20I against Zimbabwe on Sunday. Coming in the 18th over, Singh faced nine balls and scored 11 runs, including a crucial six on the penultimate ball of the innings. He also managed a boundary on the final ball, though it was not added to his tally as it was a leg bye.

Singh boasts impressive statistics when batting in the 20th over in T20Is. In 28 balls faced in the final over so far in his Indian career, he has scored 84 runs at a strike rate of 300, being dismissed only twice. He has hit five boundaries and nine sixes in this phase. In 20 T20I matches and 15 innings, Singh has accumulated 416 runs at an average of 83.20 and a strike rate of 176.27, with two half-centuries and a top score of 69*. He has remained unbeaten 10 times.

In this series against Zimbabwe, Singh has managed 60 runs in four innings at an average of 60, his only dismissal being a duck in the first game. Subsequently, he scored 48*, 1*, and 11*. In eight T20Is and seven innings this year, Singh has amassed 154 runs at an average of 154.00, being dismissed only once, with a strike rate of 169.23 and a best score of 69*.

In the match, Zimbabwe elected to field first after winning the toss. India was initially struggling at 40/3 until a 65-run partnership between Sanju Samson, who scored 58 off 45 balls, and Riyan Parag, who added 22 off 24 balls, helped stabilize the innings. A crucial cameo from Shivam Dube (26 off 12 balls) propelled India to a total of 167/6 in their 20 overs. Blessing Muzarbani was the standout bowler for Zimbabwe with figures of 2/19, while Richard Ngarva, Sikandar Raza, and Brandon Mavuta each took a wicket. (ANI)
