India’s newly appointed head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has expressed confidence in the longevity of veteran batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, suggesting they can continue to play until the 2027 World Cup, provided they maintain their fitness.

Speaking at his inaugural press conference after succeeding Rahul Dravid, Gambhir underlined the contributions of both cricket icons in major tournaments, including the T20 and 50-over World Cups, while stating that the final decision rests with the players themselves.

Highlighting upcoming challenges such as the 2025 Champions Trophy and a significant tour of Australia in 2024, Gambhir projected optimism about their ongoing participation.

Additionally, discussions included Suryakumar Yadav's new role as T20 captain ahead of Hardik Pandya, who has been hampered by injuries.
