Stella Confirms Team Spirit Amid McLaren's Triumph at Hungarian GP
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella praised Lando Norris for following team orders to let Oscar Piastri reclaim his lead in the Hungarian Grand Prix despite initial reluctance. Stella highlighted the importance of team principles, stressing the severe consequences of ignoring them. Both drivers remain on equal footing within McLaren's racing strategy.
McLaren boss Andrea Stella revealed he never doubted Lando Norris would hand back the lead to Oscar Piastri at the Hungarian Grand Prix, despite the Briton's apparent hesitation.
Stella clarified that defying team orders would have had severe repercussions. 'I know Lando enough...to understand the racer and team player inside him,' he told reporters after McLaren's one-two finish.
Despite starting on pole, Norris ceded his lead to Piastri after pit stops and adhered to team instructions to reverse positions, allowing Piastri's breakthrough win.
