India Khelo Football (IKF) is set to kick off Season 4 of its national trials, aiming to bolster grassroots football across 100 cities in India. The trials will target boys and girls in the under-13, under-15, and under-17 age groups.
In a significant development, Tyger Capital has entered a long-term collaboration with IKF. This partnership aims to streamline talent identification and selection processes nationwide. Since 2021, IKF's national trials have spanned over 60 cities and villages, attracting more than 17,000 participants. From these trials, over 350 players were shortlisted for the National Finals, providing a platform for selection by Indian Super League (ISL), I-League, and international academies.
Several participants have already made their mark. For instance, Suren Hansda from Jharkhand, identified through the IKF National Finals, now represents FC Madras under-15. Other promising talents like Chittransh Bam, Arjun Krishna, and Jonathan Jacob are affiliated with Minerva Academy, FC Madras, and Football School of India, respectively. IKF collaborates with regional academies, including those accredited by AIFF, to ensure effective trials across the country.
Phani Bhushan, Director at India Khelo Football, lauded the partnership with Tyger Capital as a milestone for grassroots football in India. “We are confident that this collaboration will significantly advance our efforts to nurture aspiring football talent,” Bhushan stated. Hitesh Joshi, Strategy and Partnerships Head at IKF, echoed similar sentiments. “This journey has brought to light previously unidentified talents. Together with Tyger Capital, we aim to further our mission of 'Aap Khelo Mauka Hum Denge,' influencing India's football future on the global stage,” Joshi added.
Gaurav Gupta, Founder and CEO of Tyger Capital, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. “We are thrilled about our involvement with IKF's National Trials. We eagerly anticipate the opportunities Season 4 will create for young athletes and encourage participation from across the nation,” Gupta commented. The IKF National Finals have also received significant attention from ISL and I-League clubs, such as Mumbai City FC, Goa FC, and Kerala Blasters. IKF’s initiatives also include PFSA-certified scouting programs, bringing Premier League Academy scouts to India for coaching workshops.
