Tunisian Champion Amine Guenichi Receives Four-Year Doping Ban Ahead of Paris 2024

Tunisian wrestler Amine Guenichi has officially been ruled out of the Paris 2024 Olympics following a four-year doping ban issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), according to a Tunisian federation official.

Guenichi, who asserts he committed no wrongdoing, won gold in the men's Greco-Roman 130kg category at the Arab Games last year. Montaser Obaidi, the federation's technical director, revealed the suspension was due to Guenichi's non-compliance during an anti-doping test last November. Despite providing a negative urine sample hours later, and subsequent negative blood tests, the provisional four-month suspension led to an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), resulting in the four-year ban.

Guenichi expressed his disbelief, stating, "I don't understand why WADA did appeal." He plans to work with his legal team to challenge the decision, aiming to reduce or overturn the ban.
