Kenyan Hellen Obiri is setting her sights on gold at the Paris Olympics, converting her track success into marathon aspirations. After two second-place finishes in the 5,000 metres, Obiri has successfully switched to endurance running, securing wins in Boston and New York since her marathon debut in 2022.

Obiri expressed her confidence and enthusiasm, stating, "I know Paris, it will be a tough course but winning those two marathons, it gives me a lot of hope, a lot of confidence and a lot of excitement," she told Reuters.

Facing competition from defending champion Peres Jepchirchir, who has also won in New York, London, and Boston, Obiri remains undaunted. She is eager to tackle the marathon course designed to commemorate the French Revolution's historic events of 1789. "I'm so happy to go to Paris as a marathoner... I do believe the marathon is my best event in Olympics," declared Obiri.
