A day after the Paris Olympics began with a dazzling opening ceremony, India's first-ever country house at the Olympics, the India House, was inaugurated in a star-studded event. The opening, attended by prominent Indian personalities and International Olympic Committee (IOC) officials, showcased India's rich heritage and Olympic aspirations, as highlighted in a Reliance Foundation media release.
The ceremony was marked by a traditional Indian lamp-lighting led by IOC member Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation. Attendees included Ser Miang NG, an IOC Committee member; PT Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association; Jawed Ashraf, Ambassador of India to France; Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary; and Abhinav Bindra, Olympic Gold Medalist. Ambani emphasized the significance of India House as a symbol of India's Olympic aspirations and expressed hope that it would soon lead to India hosting the Games.
Nita Ambani stated, "India House is envisioned as a symbol of India's Olympic aspirations. We hope it becomes a home away from home for our athletes, a place where we honor them, salute their spirit and celebrate their achievements." The event featured performances from Bollywood singer Shaan and traditional Indian acts, offering visitors a taste of India's vibrant culture. India House will host a range of exclusive events during the Games, including daily programming curated by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, and will remain open to visitors throughout the Paris Olympics.
