After the high of the Tokyo Olympics, where India achieved its best-ever medal haul, the nation now aims for double-digit medals in Paris, said sports administrator and IOC member Nita Ambani. Speaking to PTI during the opening of 'India House' at La Villette, she emphasized that the day India hosts the Olympics is 'not far.'

In October last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India's ambitious plan to bid for the 2036 Olympics, promising to leave no stone unturned to fulfill the dreams of its 1.4 billion citizens.

'We are going to do very well. Forty-seven percent of our athletes are girls. We are all for women power and supporting our young athletes,' Nita said. 'I hope we can see double digits in medals for the first time. Go India go, make India proud.'

The opening of the first-ever 'India House' at the Paris Olympics, attended by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and IOC officials, marked a significant milestone. 'India has arrived. The day is not far when we will host the Olympic Games,' Nita added.

'For the first time, India has a place to honor our athletes, celebrate their accomplishments, and showcase our rich heritage and culture,' she said. 'It's a home away from home for our athletes.'

Asked about the inspiration for 'India House,' she mentioned that the idea sparked during her visits to Brazil, Korea, and Japan. 'I felt that a country with 1.4 billion people needed a house of its own at the Olympics to truly represent the spirit of India,' she concluded.
