Indian badminton sensation Lakshya Sen's opening match triumph over Kevin Cordon in the men's singles Group L at the Paris Olympics has been nullified after the Guatemalan player withdrew due to a left elbow injury.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced Cordon's withdrawal and clarified that his remaining Group L matches against Indonesia's Jonatan Christie and Belgium's Julien Carraggi will not take place. Consequently, Group L is now a three-player affair involving Sen, Christie, and Carraggi.

Sen will compete against Carraggi on Monday and Christie on Wednesday in a bid to secure a knockout stage spot. Meanwhile, the Indian men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also benefited from a German player's injury withdrawal, simplifying their path in Group C.
