Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman Mohsin Naqvi is poised to become the next president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) later this year, according to the council’s rotational policy. This was discussed during a recent ACC meeting, positioning Naqvi as the forthcoming leader.

A source confirmed that, 'When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term.'

Currently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah holds the ACC presidency, having received a third consecutive term extension in January. 'Shah will step down, and PCB’s Naqvi will take over,' said the source.

The ACC has recently allocated the hosting rights for the 2025 Asia Cup to India, to be played in T20 format, and the 2027 edition to Bangladesh, in ODI format. This brings into question whether India will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy or if Pakistan will go to India for the Asia Cup.

Pakistan traveled to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup, having previously visited for the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2016 T20 World Cup. Notably, India has not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup.
