India's shuttler PV Sindhu progressed to the Round of 16 in the women's singles badminton event at the ongoing Paris Olympics. She secured a commanding victory over Estonia's Kristin Kuuba in the final Group M match on Wednesday, winning 21-5, 21-10 within 34 minutes at La Chapelle Arena.
Sindhu took control early, claiming the first game 21-5 in just 14 minutes. She maintained her momentum in the second game, securing a 21-10 win in 19 minutes. Sindhu may face He Bingjiao from the People's Republic of China in the next round, a player she defeated to win bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.
In her previous Group M match, Sindhu started her third Olympic medal quest by defeating Maldives' Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq with 21-9, 21-6 scores. Sindhu demonstrated her dominance, restricting Razzaq to single digits in both games, finishing the match in 29 minutes.
Sindhu consistently leveraged the entire court to her advantage, prompting Razzaq to play loose shots. This marked their second encounter, with Sindhu dominating both times. The initial game was a neck-and-neck battle until Sindhu surged ahead with a 10-point streak.
