India's Swapnil Kusale clinched the bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3P event on Thursday at the ongoing Paris Olympics, making history as the first Indian shooter to secure a medal in this category.

Kusale, with an aggregate score of 451.4, secured third place in the event, adding to India's overall medal tally in shooting. During the qualification rounds, he finished seventh on Wednesday, ensuring his spot in the final.

Kusale and fellow Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar competed in the qualification round. Kusale's Olympic debut saw him finish seventh with a score of 590-38x, while Tomar ranked 11th with 589-33x, narrowly missing out on the final round.

China's Liu Yukun set a new Olympic qualification record with a score of 594-38x. Kusale's bronze win represents a significant milestone for Indian shooting at the Olympics.

In other news, India's Manu Bhaker opened the country's medal account with a bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event. This event marked a comeback for Manu after her struggles at the Tokyo Olympics.

Additionally, the duo of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, overcoming South Korea's Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin with a score of 16-10.
